Cozumel, Mexico

The second stop on the cruise was in Cozumel. Marcie is a big lover of horses so we decided to do some horseback riding with Brandon, Brynn and Maria. Our guide was Carlos and our horses were Rambo and Lucero (renamed Lupe by Marcie). We saw a lot of Iguana which seemed exciting but our guide wasn't quite as interested considering it's like squirrels or chipmunks. The riding didn't take all day so we had a chance to head to downtown for a little bit to do some shopping.

Key West Cruise

I've been meaning to do this for a little while now but finally found time. Last week we were house sitting so I didn't get a chance to do this. The first stop on the Cruise was in Key West. There really isn't a lot there, but we tried to make the best of it. We did get a chance to make it to the southern most point in the continental United States. You might not think that is much but I doubt you've had a chance to do that. Then of course since Key West is pretty famous for their Key Lim Pie, I had to stop by the Blond Giraffe and eat some frozen Key lime pie. It was really good but messy.

Mission Reunion

Last week the a bunch of the Galley clan headed on a cruise that made a stop in Belize. The great thing about that is that I was able to see some of my old stomping grounds of my mission. Of course things have changed a bit but somehow I was able to find the apartment I lived in and also the church. We also ran into the missionaries serving in the area. Everybody was pretty surprised how dirty and hot and humid it was there, including myself, but I guess it was something you just got used to. I could have spent days there but even a few hours were great.

Atwell Mill Camping

Last Saturday 9/8 we headed up to Atwell Mill by Mineral King to do some camping with the Brookhouser clan. Unfortunately we forgot to charge the batteries in the camera so we couldn't get a lot of pictures. It was good to get out and go camping since we haven't had a chance to do that yet this year. Of course we think the outdoors is where Evan belongs since he loves getting dirty and at times seems like a wild animal. We even saw some wildlife including a black bear and some deer.

Utah Adventure

Unfortunately last week we had to head to Utah for Mike Lane's funeral. Of course most of the people reading this already know that so we'll just use this as a reminder. Although it doesn't happen all the time, Brookley has a tendency to get really sick when we head to Utah so were always scared. This time was no exception. When we got to Amy and Tyler's in Orem. Brookley starting throwing up and her lips turning blue, so we decided to take her to the ER. They were concerned with her heart problems so the doctor there decided to transport her up to Primary Children's in Salt Lake by ambulance. She was fine by the time she got there so they just released her. We tried to make the most of the trip so we visited Temple Square which was Evan's first visit. We headed out to Vernal the next day and went to Mike's viewing. After the viewing we Brookley started to lose her voice and then got a fever that night. As with any fever she's been getting lately she had a seizure and continued to have a hard time breathing, so once again we headed to the ER. They took some Xrays and thought they saw some pneumonia so they admitted her to the hospital. She always recovers quickly and so she got out the next evening, but wasn't in time to go to Mike's funeral services. At the funeral though we had all the original Galley kids there for the first time in years so of course we had to take some pictures. The next day we headed down to Rhonda's to buy her Expedition but when she took it in to get the oil changed, it blew a spark plug and wouldn't be fixed until at least the next week. To say the least it was probably the least favorite trip we've taken to Utah and that's saying a lot since we spent a week in the hospital with Brookley when she was a newborn with RSV. Of course as the new Grammy would say "at least we made some memories."

Last Few Weeks

Sorry we haven't put anything up on the blog the last few weeks. It really hasn't been too busy but we haven't had a bunch of picture opportunities and we like to include them in the blog. Then again I think Grandma is the only one that looks at this regularly, so sorry Grandma. The biggest thing that happened is that Brookley had another seizure on August 15th, so we spent the day in the hospital until they could run an EEG (basically a brainwave test). They had to put red marks all over her head that turned her hair pink, so that is the reason for the picture of her pink hair. We also went to another Oaks game where cousin Zack threw out the first pitch. We discovered the best way to try to keep Evan under control was to put him on a leash, which surprisingly he likes.

New Gas Sipper

A couple of weeks ago we decided we were tired of paying $3.29 a gallon for gas with on 25 mpg, so we decided it was time to take gas mileage into our own hands. We went and purchased a brand new Yamaha Vino that get a whopping 75+ mpg. Evan loves the scooter, but as you see in the video Brookley has a different opinion.
