Since our National Parks Pass expires in May we thought we had better make one last trip to Sequioa National Park. I'm glad we did because we found out once we got there that they raised the price for the yearly passes from $50 to $80, so we'll need to save up to get our next pass. We didn't have a lot of time since we had to get back for Sunday dinner at the Brookhouser's, so we just decided to climb up Moro Rock. (Not to be confused with Morro Rock in Morro Bay on the coast, since I'm sure everybody reading this is very familiar with both). It's not usually a tough climb but with a 30+ lb little girl or boy on your shoulders it does get a little tougher. It was pretty as always and nice to get some clean air into our lungs.

Cardiologist Appointment
We went up to Valley Children's Hospital yesterday for Brookley's semi annual check up. We thought she was going to get an echocardiogram, but instead just had an EKG done. For those who don't know, and echocardiogram is like doing an ultrasound of the heart and and EKG just prints out a chart of how her heart is beating. The doctor was very pleased with how well she is doing and the only thing he did was increase her medicine a bit since she has grown a little bit since her last visit.

Oaks Baseball
The Visalia Oaks season started a couple of days ago, but Evan had the flu during that week so this was the first game we got to go to this year. It sure was lot easier to go to the games last year when Evan was still in his carseat. Now he wants to go all over the place and will through the usually baby fit when you try to pick him up. They also don't have the 2 for Tuesday this year so we'll just have to wait and see if we can go as much this year as last year.

Easter Egg Hunt
On Good Friday we headed up to Buckeye Flats in Sequoia National Park. We hid some easter eggs, ate some lunch and went on a little hike. The only bad thing about it was that we weren't able to find a good hill to roll the easter eggs down. Plus the fact I'm not sure if the National Parks Service would like very kindly towards us busting up colorful eggs and leaving them in the Park.

Brookley's Elbow
Marcie took Brookley up to Valley Children's Hospital today to see if there was more damage than we thought to her elbow. Good news is that the dislocation just wasn't put back in completely. Bad news is that she had to suffer the last few days. They called it nursemaids elbow and now that it has happened, it is more likely to happen again. So next time you see her, don't jerk her arm like I'm sure you're all tempted to do.

Dislocated Elbow
Last Friday Brookley was playing with a friend and he feel on her elbow. She cried a bit but seemed to be fine, so we didn't think much of it. Then the next day Dad was trying to help her up some stairs and she started to cry even more. She didn't stop and wouldn't use her arm, so we took her to the emergency room. The did some X-rays but didn't find any fractures so they think it was dislocated. It was put back in place but she still isn't able to bend it certain ways. On Thursday she will go up to a orthopedic doctor in Fresno, so we'll just have to see what they say. It might be a little while before my next post because we also have to take my computer into the shop to get the fan fixed and we don't know how long it will be before we get it back.

The Galley's Blog

One of the hardest parts of living in California is being 15 hours (20 with young kids) away from my family. Since I don't have the money or the time to visit several times a year, I feel the best way to keep in touch and see how the family is doing is to create this blog. It's also difficult to at times keep in touch by phone except for birthdays. Even then I usually call about a month or two late. Since with a blog, anybody can post a comment, please do so we can know how everybody else is doing. Also we can't forget that Mom doesn't always tell us promptly when something happens. At least she doesn't tell me promptly. I love my family so much and always miss being close to you all. Hopefully this will help.
